Use these tips to have a safe, comfortable, and stress-free trip on the bus!
Using Your Bike and Transit
Riding your bike to transit is a great option to get where you want to go as quickly as possible. All of our buses are equipped with bike racks on the front of the vehicle. Loading a bike takes four simple steps. Bikes are allowed inside the bus in the wheelchair area. You must stay with your bike. If someone who needs this area due to a disability you will be asked to move your bike outside of the bus.
Boarding the Bus
All of our buses “kneel” and have deployable ramps for ease of boarding. When arriving at a stop all drivers will kneel the bus for passengers. However, if you feel you need the ramp be sure to ask the driver. Make sure to give the ramp space to deploy and wait for the driver to let you know it is okay to board. Please do not attempt to board through the rear door in any circumstances.
Make sure you are ready to pay when you board. For more information on all the ways to pay when boarding CityBus click the link below.
Finding Your Seat
After paying your fare, find a seat that is most comfortable for you. However, please be aware that the front of the bus is reserved for individuals who are elderly and/or disabled. Be on the lookout for the decals below to know exactly what seats are reserved. If for some reason all seats are taken, and you must stand be sure to use the overhead handles and rails for extra support.
Once you are in your seat sit back and enjoy the ride. Food or drink in open containers are not allowed on the bus and there is absolutely no smoking or vaping allowed. Make sure to be courteous to your neighbors by playing music through headphones only and keeping phone conversations to a minimum. For a full set of rules for using CityBus take a look at our Code of Conduct.
Getting Off at Your Stop
Drivers do not pull over at every bus stop on a route, so it is very important to let the driver know where you wish to get off. Listen for the stop announcements to know when your stop is coming up. If you are not sure where your stop is on the route let the driver know when you board. He/she will do their best to assist you in getting off at the right location. When your stop is coming up pull on yellow cord by the window or push the yellow strip. See the pictures below of what to look for. You will hear a ding and an announcement stating, “Stop Requested”.

Leaving the Bus
As you are getting ready to leave the bus, make sure to collect all of your belongings. If you have any trash, please take it with you so future riders can enjoy a clean and safe ride. If you can, please exit the bus through the rear door.
