Here at CityBus we hope to make this experience as smooth as possible. The following questions might be some you are asking, and we hope the answers help you navigate this temporary change as easy as possible. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at (707) 543-3333.

What is happening and when?

Santa Rosa Citybus will be repaving the Downtown Transit Mall starting on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. The project will take 2-3 months to complete.

Where will the buses stop in Downtown Santa Rosa?

All buses that serve the Transit Mall will relocate to 1st Street between Santa Rosa Avenue and D Street. Some buses will also stop directly on Santa Rosa Avenue in front of the City Hall Annex. This applies to all bus systems. Along with CityBus, Sonoma County Transit, Golden Gate Transit, and Mendocino Transit Authority will relocate their service to the temporary Transit Mall. Please see the map below for how the temporary Transit Mall will be laid out.

Will my bus route have a different schedule?

No. Because the Temporary Transit Mall is so close to the regular Transit Mall schedules should be unaffected.

Where do I get information about the buses?

Just like the regular Transit Mall, Transit Service Representatives will be at the Temporary Transit Mall to assist you with planning your trip or helping you find where your bus will be stopping.

Where can I buy passes or reload my Clipper card?

Our customer service staff has been relocated to a desk at the City Hall Annex (90 Santa Rosa Ave). They will operate different hours during this relocation to be consistent with the hours of the other departments in the Annex. The office is open Monday – Thursday 9:00AM – 4:00PM and Friday 9:00AM – 3:00PM. All the same services are provided as they were at the transit information office at the regular Transit Mall. You can use the map above to see where the desk is or type the address into a smart phone to help you find your way.

Will there be public bathrooms at the Temporary Transit Mall?

Yes, there will be a portable bathroom trailer available for public use as well as the public restrooms in front of the City Hall Annex.

Will there be the same level of security at the Temporary Transit Mall?

Yes, security will be very similar to the regular Transit Mall. Security staff will work the same hours as before and new cameras will be added to 1st Street to help monitor the area.

Will there be anywhere to sit while I wait for the bus?

Yes. CityBus will be temporarily installing benches and bus shelters along 1st Street in the areas where the buses will unload and pick up.
